Data & Limits
- Source. Every paper in the published proceedings of AMCIS, ECIS, PACIS and ICIS, 2021 to 2026: 8,038 papers and 24,362 author positions.
- What counts. Full research papers, short papers (research in progress) and teaching cases are counted. Panels, professional development workshops and symposia are not, and neither are abstract-only submissions such as AMCIS TREO talks, which are not peer-reviewed papers. The paper type filter separates full from short papers.
- PACIS 2022 published no paper types. Those 351 papers count under “all papers” and drop out of full-only and short-only views.
- 2026 is included. AMCIS, ECIS and PACIS 2026 are counted, 1,072 papers in total. ICIS 2026 is held in December and joins the count as soon as its proceedings publish, which is also when the window rolls forward.
- Movement arrows beside each rank compare the ranking you are viewing against the same ranking with the most recent year removed, so on the default view they show what the 2026 papers changed. See Calculation.
- Institutions. Companies, hospitals and health systems, government bodies, professional associations, cross-university research networks and bare department names are excluded. Independent research institutes that publish in their own right, such as the Fraunhofer institutes and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, are counted as their own entries rather than excluded or folded into a university.
- Author names are taken from the proceedings and then cleaned: titles and credentials are removed, and names published in all capitals or all lower case are restored to normal casing.
- Regions are estimated from institutional affiliation and are approximate. Institutions with too little signal carry no region and appear only in the worldwide view.
- Ordinal ranks at the individual level are approximate. Small count differences are not meaningful distinctions between scholars.
